Cookies and similar technologies
Last updated 4 October 2026 · For StudySpace at studyspaceonline.com
In short. StudySpace does not use advertising cookies. Sign-in and your work are stored mainly with local storage in this browser, plus our database if you have an account. Page-view analytics from Vercel is designed to work without advertising cookies. You can clear this site’s stored data in your browser settings.
1. What this page covers
UK PECR rules sit alongside the Privacy Policy. They cover cookies and similar technologies — including local storage — that store or access information on your device.
We do not currently run a cookie banner because we do not set advertising or extra tracking cookies. If that changes, we will update this page and add a choice where the law requires it.
2. What we store on your device
Needed to run the site
- Sign-in session — so you stay signed in (Supabase Auth in local storage).
- Guest workspace — notes, cards, planner and similar items if you use the site without an account.
- Theme and first-visit guide — so the layout and intro remember what you chose.
- Connection settings — only if you pasted your own Supabase details on a self-hosted copy.
These are needed to provide the service you asked for (a workspace that still exists after you refresh).
Features you turn on by using them
- robot chats (general helper and the helper on a note, set, essay or oral)
- essay drafts and marks
- oral and typed-quiz attempt history
- pins, study “start on question/answer”, and a light style profile so later AI generate can match how you usually write
- an AI key, only if you paste one on a self-hosted copy (the public site uses a server key instead)
Clearing site data removes these. Signed-in cloud notes are not deleted by clearing the browser — those live in your account until you delete them in the app or delete the account from Profile.
3. Analytics
We load Vercel Web Analytics on pages to see which screens are used (for example Home vs Notes). Vercel describes this product as privacy-oriented and not based on advertising cookies. It is not used to show you ads or to sell a profile of you.
You can block the analytics script with a browser content blocker if you prefer. The study tools still work.
4. Third-party requests (not our cookies)
Pages also load:
- Google Fonts — Plus Jakarta Sans
- cdnjs / Cloudflare — Font Awesome icons and KaTeX equation formatting
- Supabase — account and signed-in data
- Vercel — the site itself, analytics, and the AI proxy
Those organisations may process your IP address and standard request data under their own policies. We do not use them to run remarketing ads.
5. Microphone
Orals ask the browser for microphone access. That permission is controlled by the browser, not a StudySpace cookie. You can revoke it in the browser’s site settings. Speech recognition may be processed by the browser vendor; see the Privacy Policy.
6. How to clear or control storage
- In your browser, use “Clear data” / “Cookies and site data” for studyspaceonline.com (or localhost when you run the site yourself).
- Sign out to end the cloud session on this device.
- Delete individual notes, cards and tasks inside the app.
- On Profile, use Delete account (signed in) or Clear data on this device (guest).
Clearing this site’s data will log you out and erase guest work and local chats on that browser. It cannot be undone.
7. Changes
If we add non-essential cookies (for example advertising or extra tracking), we will update this page and, where required, ask before setting them.
