Terms of Service

Last updated 18 October 2026 · For StudySpace at studyspaceonline.com

In short. StudySpace is a free study workspace. You keep ownership of your notes and cards. Use it for your own schoolwork, follow the law, and do not try to break into other accounts. AI marks and generated notes are practice tools, not official grades. The service is provided as-is. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.

1. Agreement

These terms are an agreement between you and the operator of StudySpace (“we”, “us”) for use of www.studyspaceonline.com and related pages (the “service”). By creating an account, signing in, or choosing “Continue without signing in”, you agree to these terms and to the Privacy Policy.

If you do not agree, do not use the service. If you use StudySpace for a school or as a parent for a child, you confirm you are allowed to accept these terms for that use.

2. The service

StudySpace lets you organise subjects, write notes, make flashcards, take tests and quizzes, practise orals, mark essays, and plan study time. Some features use AI. The service may change as we add or remove tools. We do not promise any particular exam result, predicted grade, or that generated material matches a specific exam board.

The hosted site uses our connected database and a server-side AI proxy. If you run a copy of the code yourself, you are responsible for your own keys, database and compliance.

3. Accounts

You must give a real email you control and choose a password of at least six characters. Keep the password secret. If you forget the password, use Forgot password on the sign-in page. You are responsible for activity on your account until you tell us it was used without permission.

We may refuse, suspend or close an account if we reasonably believe these terms are broken, the account is unsafe, or the law requires it.

To delete a signed-in account and the cloud workspace we hold for it, use Delete account on the Profile page.

4. Guest use

You may use StudySpace without an account. Guest work is saved on this device only. It is not a backup. Clearing the browser, using another device, or losing the device can lose that work. Sign in if you want the workspace on more than one device. Guest work is not automatically merged into an account.

5. Your content

You own the notes, cards, images, essays and other material you create (“your content”). You grant us a limited licence to host, store, display and process it solely to provide the service — including sending the pieces needed for a feature to our processors (database, host, and AI providers when you use AI).

You confirm you have the right to put that content in StudySpace (for example your own notes, or material you are allowed to copy for private study). Do not upload content that is illegal, or that you are not allowed to use.

We do not claim ownership of your homework. We do not sell your content.

6. AI features

When you use the robot, generate, scan, expand, tests, essays or orals, prompts, nearby study context, and sometimes images are sent to OpenAI and/or xAI through our server. Their replies can be wrong, incomplete, or out of date. Treat them as a study aid.

  • AI marks are not official teacher or examiner marks.
  • Generated notes and cards can miss items, invent wording, or ignore part of an instruction. Check them against your source.
  • Oral scores are practice, not a speaking-exam result.
  • You remain responsible for what you submit at school.

Do not paste confidential material you are not allowed to share with a third-party AI. See the Privacy Policy for what is sent.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • break the law or store illegal content
  • try to access someone else’s account or workspace
  • probe, overload, or disrupt the site, database, or AI proxy
  • scrape the service in a way that harms it, or use it to build a competing dataset of other students’ work (there is no public feed of other students’ notes)
  • misrepresent AI output as a human teacher’s official mark
  • use the microphone or camera in a way that records other people without their permission

School rules on academic honesty still apply. StudySpace does not replace them.

8. Availability

We aim to keep the site available but do not guarantee uptime. Hosting, database, AI providers, or your network can fail. Keep your own copies of important notes if you need them for an exam. Scheduled or emergency maintenance can happen without notice.

9. Intellectual property

The StudySpace name, layout, robot artwork and code of the service are ours or used under licence. You may not copy the product as a competing hosted service using our branding. You may not remove notices from our pages.

10. Liability

The service is provided free of charge, “as is” and “as available”. As far as the law allows, we exclude warranties that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for a particular exam.

We are not liable for exam results, lost marks, missed deadlines, or decisions you make based on AI output. We are not liable for loss of guest data stored only in your browser.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any liability that UK law does not allow to be limited. If you are a consumer in the UK, you keep the statutory rights that cannot be waived.

If we are liable to you for something these terms do not exclude, our total liability is limited to £0 because the hosted service is provided without a fee, or if a court will not accept a zero cap, to £50.

11. Children

The service is intended for students. If you are under 13, a parent or guardian must agree to these terms and manage the account. If you are 13–17, you confirm a parent or school knows you are using it. We may close an account we reasonably believe belongs to a child using it in a way these terms do not allow.

12. Changes and ending

We may update these terms. The new version applies from the “last updated” date on this page. If you keep using the service after that, you accept the new terms. You may stop using the service at any time. We may stop offering the hosted service; we will try to give notice on the site if we shut it down.

13. Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, except that if you are a consumer living elsewhere in the UK you may also use the courts of your home nation.
